CII to organise Kerala PSU Summit 2014 in Trivandrum

Trivandrum: As part of its annual day celebrations, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Trivandrum Zone is organizing a Kerala PSU Summit 2014 on March 01 in Thiruvananthapuram. The theme of this Summit, which will be the first of its kind in Kerala, is ‘Public Sector Undertakings – Creating Conesus for Kerala Model’.

According to a press release from CII, Kerala has been taking serious efforts to identify new industrial and infrastructural opportunities and to equip itself to meet the emerging challenges. Industrial Policies all along was intended towards the enhancement of industrial investment in the State with the objective of creating more income and employment.

The role of Government has changed from a provider to that of a facilitator for industrial investment. Efforts at increasing investment in the traditional sector are continuing with the aim of bringing in technology upgradation, diversification and modernization. During the past ten years, Governments have been taking steps to restructure and revive the State Level Public Sector Enterprises (SLPEs) by a comprehensive policy initiative through upgradation of technology, performance contract agreement, inter-PSU tie up, capacity building and effective corporate governance systems.

The Kerala PSU Summit would provide an opportunity to discover the best practices and alternative strategies that can be adopted by the PSUs to address Issues like Control vs Ownership, the advantage of Transparency and also the balance between Regulation and Autonomy.
