SBT launches SBI General’s group health insurance policy

Trivandrum: SBI General Insurance and State Bank of Travancore (SBT) have jointly announced the launch of SBI General’s Group Health Insurance Policy exclusively for SBT Account holders and their families.

Bhaskar J Sarma, MD & CEO of SBI General Insurance handed over the master policy to Jeevandas Narayan, DMD-OSD of SBT and Sajeev Krishnan, MD of SBT, in the presence of E K Harikumar, CGM, SBT, at a function held at the SBT headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram.

In his address, Jeevandas said, “It’s an historic occasion for the Bank as we bring SBI General’s Health Insurance Policy to our customers through our vast network of branches at an affordable premium. The SBI – SBT group synergy would be utilised to the hilt to sell the Insurance products as this is one more value proposition that we can offer to our customers. Today cross selling is very essential to the Bank to retain customers and to give value to our customers.”

Stressing on the need for insurance, Bhaskar said, “With the cost of treatment increasing by 15-20% a year, it is going to make a serious dent in the middle class household budget. In India, 60% of the medical treatment and health care expenditure is borne by the individual and only 10% of them are insured. SBI General’s Health Insurance Policy provides a much-needed cushion with its affordable premium. We see great potential for SBI General’s Health Insurance Policy in Kerala and especially for SBT customers, with mutual benefit for all concerned”.

According SBI General Insurance, the USP of their Health Insurance Policy is that there is no pre-policy medical test up to the age of 65 years for people with no medical history and the highest number of day care procedures (142) which are covered. The Insurance Policy offers multiple coverage options – Individual & Family Floater options with sum insured of Rs.1 to 5 lakhs. Cashless treatment is possible across 3,000+ hospitals in the network including 140 in Kerala. Domiciliary treatment, subject to certain conditions, is also covered under the policy.

Senior officials and several employees of SBT were present during the launch function.
