Ashok Leyland launches ICV BOSS in Kerala

Kochi: Ashok Leyland, the Hinduja group flagship, has launched BOSS, an intermediate commercial vehicle (ICV), in Kerala. Manufactured at their largest, state-of-the-art plant in Pantnagar in Uttarakhand, BOSS comes in two variants.

The new vehicle was launched in Tamil Nadu last month and already 300 units have been sold. Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the target segments after which it would be launched in Maharashtra and Gujarat and then Punjab and Haryana. “The company was hoping to do extremely well in Kerala judging from the response in Tamil Nadu. We are confident of making significant headway in the fast-growing ICV market with the new BOSS”, he added.

According to a release from the company, the BOSS sets many industry-firsts – it comes with a best-in-class service interval of 40,000 kms, a hydraulic power steering system, a best-in-class turning radius of 15.3 mtrs, a 3-year anti-perforation warranty for the cabin and a 5-year replacement guarantee on the rear LED lights. It has undergone 9,20,000 kms on road trials and 24,00,000 kms of endurance testing. It is being launched in the Haulage segment with 9.6T, 11.9Tand 12.9T GVW and are priced at Rs 10.5 lakh and Rs 12 lakh.

The BOSS also offers features and comforts that will set benchmarks in the commercial vehicle industry. An ergonomically designed dashboard with intelligently placed controls and multi-angle adjustable seats ensures fatigue-free drive. The steering column comes with tilt-able and telescopic movements and a 2-point suspended cabin provides a comfortable ride on the roughest of roads. The hydraulic cab-tilt mechanism helps tilt the cab with minimum effort and allows easy access for easier maintenance.

The BOSS LE is fitted with an in-line fuel injection pump and a 6-speed overdrive gearbox that delivers superior mileage. The BOSS LX has an Automated Manual Transmission.
