Kochi: The country’s largest car-maker, Maruti Suzuki India, today re-launched the new Swift in the Kerala market. The company had on Wednesday launched the new version of its premium hatchback with an introductory price range of Rs.4.22 lakh to Rs.5.53 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs.5.17 lakh to Rs.6.38 lakh for the diesel variant in New Delhi.
While launching the car here, Manohar Bhat, GM & Commercial Business Head (South), Maruti Suzuki said, “We are targeting monthly sales of about 17,000 units of the new Swift model across the country by next year. Earlier on an average, 12,000 units of Swift were being sold a month. We are looking at a sales growth of 8-10% this year”. He also expressed hope that sales would pick up during the forthcoming festival season.
Launched six years back, the Swift has been a runaway success for the company, with over six lakh units sold so far and a regular waiting period of two to three months. Built on an all-new platform, the company and its suppliers have invested over Rs.500 crore on the new car. Swift enjoys 30% market share in the premium hatchback segment.
