Kottayam: For the first time in its history, the Indian STEPs and Business Incubators’ Association (ISBA) is holding its annual managers’ conclave in Kerala, at the Amal Jyothi College of Engineering at Kanjirapally in Kottayam district. The conclave got off to a start today and concludes on February 28.
The ISBA Managers’ Conclave is a gathering of all the managers of the Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Parks and Technology Business Incubators (TBI), to discuss, brainstorm and chalk out strategies for incubation in India. Most of these incubators have been established by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
‘Sustainability of incubators’, ‘funding through Corporate CSR’, and ‘rejuvenating non-performing incubators’ are some of the major themes of discussion during this conclave. The conclave would be giving an opportunity for the newer incubators to learn best practices and share experiences with the senior managers from the incubation fraternity. New and innovative initiatives that have been taken up by incubators would be shared for the benefit of the participants.
It is in appreciation of the commendable performance of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre of Amal Jyothi for the last five years that ISBA has selected the College as the venue for its annual conclave.
The ISBA annual conference brings together incubators and other players of the eco-system for networking, experience sharing and new learnings. It is currently focusing on providing facilitation and escort services to establish more Entrepreneurship Development Centres and Business Incubators in the country.
The Indian STEP and Business Incubator Association was set up in 2004 as a registered professional body to promote business incubation activities in the country through exchange of information, sharing of experience, and other networking assistance among Indian business incubators, Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Parks (STEPs) and other related organizations engaged in the promotion of start-up enterprises.
ISBA is the only pan-India network of business incubators and has an abundance of expertise and knowledge base in technology business Incubation that has been acquired over a period of 25 years.
A unique feature is its diversity, with member organisations coming from academic institutions / universities of repute such as IIMs, NITs; Research & Development organisations; and technology parks such as Technopark, Trivandrum.
