Trivandrum: Kerala has created a new milestone in services delivery by issuing over one crore Digital Certificates under the e-District portal, a mission mode project under the National e-Governance Programme (NeGP).
This was announced by the Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty at a function organised today to mark this occasion at the Institute of Management in Governance in Thiruvananthapuram. He also launched the e-District mobile app which will help applicants to check their application status on smartphones. The app is available for free download from Google Play Store.
In his address, the Minister said, “The e-District project has come a long way since its introduction in just two Districts in 2010. Today, out of the 50 Districts across India to have the e-District project, 14 are in Kerala, which means the entire State is covered. This is a major step in moving towards a modern digital society. We have set new records and standards in IT usage for services delivery to the citizens (G2C).”
Launching the Revenue Court cases module of the e-District portal, Revenue Minister, Shri Adoor Prakash said, “The fact that we could issue about 1.07 crore Digital Certificates this year speaks a lot about the strides we have made in this area. Of the 40 odd Certificate services available under the e-District project, 24 are from the Revenue Department.” He also requested the introduction of payment gateway on the e-District portal for paying land registration fees.
Village / Taluk Officers and Akshaya Entrepreneurs who issued the maximum Digital Certificates were felicitated with a memento and certificate during the function. Revenue Department Officials, IT Mission Officials and NIC Officials from various Districts were also felicitated.
The online dashboard for e-District Officials and the e-District Helpdesk was also launched by M C Mohan Das IAS, Land Revenue Commissioner and Dr. Santhana Raman, State Information Officer, NIC, respectively.
Presently, the e-District portal covers over 1,600 Village / Taluk Offices and is being used by over 3,200 Departmental users and over 2,200 Akshaya users.
