Shashi Tharoor to host Kerala Tourism’s online Quiz show

Trivandrum: A brilliant writer, a career diplomat and a politician all rolled into one, Dr. Shashi Tharoor, the Union Minister of State for HRD, will now slip into the shoes of a quiz master. The Member of Parliament from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala is all set to conduct a quiz show for promoting tourism in his home State.

The online video quiz show hosted by Dr. Tharoor for Kerala Tourism will kick off early May and go on for two months. It is for the first time that a State Tourism Board is conducting an online quiz show.

It will be easy to join the show from anywhere in the world while the quiz master reels out questions on God’s Own Country’s bountiful nature, geography and fascinating culture. The participants need to merely register themselves on the Kerala Tourism website, the virtual platform for the quiz show. Dr. Tharoor will ask one question every day for 60 days. The participants will get 24 hours to answer the questions online.

Shri A P Anil Kumar, Tourism Minister, Kerala said, “We are delighted to present Dr. Shashi Tharoor as the Quiz Master of our first online video quiz show. The quiz show will be a treat to take part in with the honourable Minister conducting it.

“Kerala Tourism is a pioneer in using IT for destination promotion,” said Kerala Tourism Director Rani George. “We assure an exciting quiz show for two months for the participants worldwide.”

Kerala Tourism has won many awards, including the National Tourism Award, for innovative use of IT. Among its previous innovations are Intelligent Itinerary Planner, Virtual tour of destinations, online video gallery, online audio gallery, e-newsletters and a GIS Map to help visitors to the state.

Earlier this month, Kerala Tourism organised a live webcast of the state’s spectacular ritual art, Theyyam, for two days on its website and YouTube for art lovers around the world.
