Trivandrum: In an effort to provide an opportunity for startups from Kerala to pitch to a wide audience that includes prominent angel investors, ecosystem players and experienced entrepreneurs, the Kerala Startups Society is organising an event – Startup Mantra, at Thiruvananthapuram on September 13, 2014.
The event will be a platform for startups in Kerala to seek feedback and advice from experts. Apart from four selected start-ups for the pitching, 10 others will be invited for a ‘Meet over Coffee’ with Shanti Mohan, an Angel Investor, on September 14 where she is going to discuss with participants about Angel Funding.
According to a communiqué from Kerala Startups, “while there is an increased interest in Kerala society about entrepreneurship, our startups find it lot more challenging than their counterparts in other cities like Bangalore and NCR to get sound mentorship and advice. The pitching event and the next day’s Meet-over-Coffee event will provide the participating startups with an opportunity to connect with some of the key people in Indian startup community.”
Startup Mantra will see national ecosystem players including prominent angel investors and successful entrepreneurs coming down to Kerala. This event is expected to be first of its kind in terms of the content, the profile of speakers and is expected to initiate the integration of startup ecosystem in Kerala with that of rest of India. The event includes various topics including angel funding and startup accelerator programs. The organisers expect the event to provide a perfect platform for the participants to network with other fellow startup entrepreneurs and angel investors.
Ravi Gururaj – Chairman of NASSCOM Product Council & a prominent Angel Investor in India; Ravi Narayan – Director Microsoft Ventures India; Shanti Mohan – co-founder of angel funding platform Letsventure.com; serial entrepreneur Radhakrishnan Ramachandran whose portfolio includes Pepper Media & erstwhile iStream.com, and Arjun Pillai – co-founder of Profoundis & an alumni of Microsoft Ventures Accelerator, are expected to be the key speakers.
With chapters in Trivandrum, Kochi and Calicut, Kerala Startups is a not-for-profit organisation providing a platform for startups in Kerala to help each other and grow together. The Technology Business Incubation Group, Technopark (TBIG) is the event partner for Startup Mantra.
