Sirius Programme calls for entries from students entrepreneurs

Trivandrum: Global graduate with an innovative start-up idea? Is your ambition to start up your own firm in a global business hub like the UK? UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is looking for bright, talented people from all over the world to join the Sirius Programme.

The Sirius Programme aims to attract the brightest and best final year students and graduate entrepreneurs to set up their businesses in the UK. Selected applicants will receive a place on one of the world’s best business accelerator programme, funding, support to gain clients, mentoring and logistical help with relocating to the UK. They can take advantage of the massive potential the UK environment offers to start ups and the support to help your business grow and flourish.

According to a communiqué from UKTI, if you are a recent graduate or final year university student and have followed BA / BSc level, Master or Research degree programme, and believe the UK is where you can create a successful future, apply for the Sirius Programme. The first deadline is January 15, 2014.

Meanwhile, applications are also invited for the Chevening Gurukul Scholarships for Leadership and Excellence Progamme, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office’s flagship fellowship scheme for India.

The Chevening Gurukul Programme is aimed at mid-career and high-flying young professionals from diverse backgrounds with a strong and demonstrable leadership potential. The selected Gurukul Fellows will be offered an intensive, all expenses paid, twelve-week residential course at King’s College London.

The twelve weeks course will familiarize India’s future leaders with best practice case-studies of leadership in the fields of government, innovation, health, and industry in the UK through a variety of standard and heterodox methods, ranging from seminars, role-playing scenarios, shadowing, and site visits.

The course will be team-taught and in addition to the academics from King’s College London and beyond, the faculty will comprise of leading professionals and practitioners from diverse sectors and policy leaders. The course includes numerous site visits, including a trip to Geneva where Fellows will interact with representatives of international agencies such as the United Nations and World Trade Organization.

Applications for the Chevening Gurukul Programme are now open and the last date is January 24, 2014.
