Kerala’s ePayment Gateway to ease online Government services

Trivandrum: The Kerala Government has launched an ‘e-payment gateway’ system which would enable citizens to pay various utility bills and access various Government department services online.

The e-Payment Gateway under the National Payment Services Platform was inaugurated by the Minister for Industries & IT, Shri P K Kunhalikutty at a function held at the Institute of Management in Government (IMG) in Thiruvananthapuram last week.

According to a release, utility bills of the Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB), Kerala Water Authority (KWA), BSNL and University fees can be done online through the gateway using credit and debit cards of 66 banks identified for the scheme.

The service can be used by anyone with Internet access and for those who do not have access to Internet, can avail the services at all Akshaya e-centres across the State. The Akshaya centres would also act as decentralised information hubs and service delivery points.

The attempt was to bring all collections to a common platform of e-payment facility. More services would be added to the system in a phased manner, the release said.

A total of 23 revenue services, currently available online as part of the e-district project, could now be accessed through the e-payment gateway. The services included those from the motor vehicles department and local self-Governments.

DeitY has appointed NDML to provide payment gateway services for e-Governance Projects. NDML has successfully launched the National Payment Services Platform (NPSP) and is currently implementing it with various Central & State Government Departments.
